I caught the acting bug very early on. I continually performed for my parents and their friends, putting on plays and performances in the living room. In high school, I performing in plays like Barefoot in the Park and Godspell. Then in university, I got my first paid acting gig: A Labatt Beer commercial with none other than Pamela Anderson.
My acting career picked up after I started working in news. I was continually cast as a reporter and news anchor. Apparently I was very believable in the role!
When I was doing "The Shopping Bags" and "Anna and Kristina's Grocery Bag" TV shows, I didn't have time to work on my skills or go to auditions, so acting took a back seat. After we finishing production, I started taking a lot of Improv classes. (A great skill to have, no matter your occupation.)
I'm a firm believer that it's never too late. Never to late to change gears, change jobs, to pursue your dreams. So at the ripe old age of never mind, I'm once again training and working on my craft. Yes, I still get those reporting and anchoring gigs (and I do them gladly!) but I have been working hard to branch out. Now I go out for doctors, mothers, teachers, grieving widows, you name it!
Acting makes me feel more present and more alive than anything else I do. It's challenging, it's scary but it's so exhilarating.
